Believe in The Magic

Orlando Magic

HIT THE SONG MAGIC FANS

After an impressive second half of the season run last year, the Orlando Magic found themselves making the playoffs and put the rest of the league on notice that the "rebuild" in Orlando is over. Now, with the majority of last year's team returning, can the Magic keep the momentum moving forward? Let's take a look at why we think so.

THE YOUTH MOVEMENT

  • This Orlando Magic team will be one of the more exciting teams to follow across the league in terms of a developmental stage. It's always a joy to watch a team invest multiple years of their "rebuild" by putting stock into their draft picks and stressing patience within as they add pieces to the puzzle. After a brilliant second half of the year, in which Orlando enjoyed one of the better records in the entire NBA, the Magic found themselves in the playoffs and put the rest of the NBA on notice. Now, with the entire team returning, this Orlando team looks poised to take another big step forward toward solidifying themselves in the Eastern Conference for years to come.

Jonathan Isaac

  • If you didn't follow the Magic closely last year, you might have missed the fascinating development of Forward Jonathan Isaac. The soon to be 3rd-year player has a great combination of size and length and does a great job on the defensive side of the ball. Isaac showed great strides during the Magic's impressive post-all star break run towards a playoff berth and there's a lot of excitement around the NBA to see what he can do after another full offseason of work.

MARKELLE FULTZ MANIA

Markelle Fultz

  • Let's not sugar coat it...this is why most of you will have more interest in the Magic than previous years, and we completely understand why. The Orlando Magic took a gamble last year, acquiring the former #1 overall selection at the Trade Deadline from the Philadelphia 76ers. So far it looks as if the gamble looks to be paying off, as we were shown flashes of Markelle Fultz promise in Orlando's latest preseason game. Fultz is the real deal, and there's a reason why he was the number one overall selection years ago. It's going to be difficult for you to find any NBA fan that isn't rooting for this kid, and if the Magic can get even half of the player that Fultz was in college at the University of Washington, it's going to provide a huge spark for this young team.

MO BAMBA YEAR TWO

  • This is a storyline that will have my attention for the majority of the year as well as the talented former Lottery selection out of Texas will be in his sophomore season in the NBA. Bamba looked as if he was going to be a slow-developing prospect out of college, and it will be interesting to see what the Magic have in mind after they resigned All-Star big man Nikola Vucevic. Bamba should be in line for some major minutes off of the bench and his development on the offensive side of the ball will be something to monitor throughout the year.

OVERALL

  • Yes this is a young team and it's always interesting to see how a team responds the following year after catching the rest of the league by surprise, but there's a lot to like about this Orlando Magic squad. Chemistry and continuity are so important for a young team continuing to build off of previous success. The continued impressive development of star forward Aaron Gordon will continue to be a huge factor if the Magic want to enjoy continued success as well as the play of big man Nikola Vucevic. If a number of key youthful pieces can continue to develop and contribute, this Orlando team is going to be a tough matchup for anyone.
